San Diego, Calif. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team fell to UC San Diego Tuesday 7-2. The match with the Tritons, who are currently ranked sixth in Division II, were played under Division II rules which allows doubles matches to count as one point each.

UCSD ( 7-4) jumped out to an early lead in doubles action, earning all three points. Blake Meister and Eric Rubens, the top-ranked doubles team in the national, earned a 8-5 victory over the Zags' (5-7) Stefan Feddersen and Zack Radetzky at No. 1. Bijan Moallemi and Erik Elliott posted an 8-1 victory over Charles Adams and Roman Dojcak at No. 2. Meanwhile, Cooper Fratt and Conor Feeney dropped an 8-5 decision to Alex Placek and Kazumi Negishi at No. 3.

Gonzaga earned its two points at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots of singles play. Playing No. 1, Stefan Feddersen earned a hard fought three-set victory over Moallemi, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. At No. 2, Dojcak rallied from an early deficit to defeat Negishi 1-6, 7-6, 11-9. UCSD sealed the victory by sweeping the remaining singles points. Radetzky dropped a 6-4, 7-5 decision to Placek at No. 3, while Meister posted a 6-1, 7-6 win over Feeney at No. 4. Fratt dropped a three-set, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 decision to Elliott at No. 5, while Adams rounded out singles play with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Vincent Nguyen at No. 6.

The Zags' continue spring break with a 2 p.m. match at UC Irvine on Wednesday.
