SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University announced today the addition of Josh Fouts and Mike Thompson as members of the Bulldogs men's soccer coaching staff. Fouts will work with the Gonzaga goalkeepers while Thompson will work with the Bulldogs forwards and midfielders and be in charge of the junior varsity squad.

Fouts returns to Gonzaga as a coach after playing three seasons for the Zags from 1996-98. During his three seasons in goal for Gonzaga, Fouts rewrote the record book finishing his career with a 0.83 goals against average. He was a three-time All-West Coast Conference second team selection and helped lead Gonzaga to back-to-back WCC co-titles during the 1997 and 1998 seasons.

After playing for the Spokane Shadow of the United States League Premier Division, Fouts played professionally for one season with the Boston Bulldogs of the USISL A-League and one season for the Carolina Dynamo of the USISL Third-Division League.

Thompson returns to Gonzaga as a coach after playing four seasons for the Zags from 1996-99. During his four years at GU, Thompson was one of the top assist men in the West Coast Conference setting both the GU single season and career record for assists. He helped guide Gonzaga to back-to-back WCC co-titles during the 1997 and 1998 seasons earning first team All-WCC honors in 1998. He wrapped up his career with an honorable mention All-WCC selection in 1999.

Thompson played two seasons with the Spokane Shadow of the United States League Premier Division before returning as an assistant coach at Gonzaga.
