Men's Rowing Closes Out Fall Season

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's rowing squad had a strong outing at the Head of the Lake despite rough weather. The Head of the Lake racecourse was shortened due to high winds and choppy waters on Sunday. The Bulldogs closed out the day with a first, second and fourth place finish. The Varsity 8+ boat finished a close fourth place, trailing third place Oregon State University by a mere 2.28 seconds. The University of Victoria took first in a time of 6:17.32, followed by the University of British Columbia (6:18.80), Oregon State (6:21.98) and Gonzaga (6:24.26). The Second Varsity 8+ placed second, behind only British Columbia. UBC earned the victory with a time of 6:32.38, with Gonzaga following at 6:37.18. The Third Varsity 8+ earned the Bulldogs their lone victory of the day. Gonzaga closed out the shortened course in a time of 6:31.66; nearly nine seconds ahead of second place Victoria. UV finished with a time of 6:40.26 and was followed by British Columbia at 6:52.80. The Head of the Lake was the final regatta for the Bulldog men's crew this fall.
