SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Gonzaga University men's varsity crew, hitting the water for the first time this spring, defeated UC San Diego Friday, March 14 in its lone race of the day. The Bulldogs, racing a 2,000-meter course on Mission Bay in San Diego, Calif., defeated the host Tritons by three seconds. Gonzaga's Varsity 8+ closed out the course in a time of 6:14.7, while UC San Diego finished in a time of 6:17.7.

The Bulldogs Varsity 8+ boat consisted of Meghan Quinn, Pat Swihart, Joe Dudley, Warren North, Scott McCoy, Brendan McCarthy, Greg Malman, Patrick Moran and Michael Anderson.

The Zags will stay in San Diego for another day, scrimmaging Orange Coast College (OCC), the University of San Diego and UC San Diego Saturday, March 15. All racing will take play on Mission Bay in the morning and afternoon.
