FRESHMAN (2001-02): Remained in his hometown of Olinda and did not play basketball.

FRESHMAN (2002-03): Attended Western Nebraska Community College...averaged 14.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg...shot 61.4 percent from the field (213-for-347) and 59.7 percent from the free throw line (77-for-129)...scored 20 or more points seven times with a season-high 31 points against Air Force Prep...recorded five double-doubles - 26 points, 11 rebounds against Otero JC, 12/16 against Casper College, 13/11 against Air Force JV, 31/13 against Air Force Prep and 18/10 against Southwest Tennessee...WNCC finished 29-7, won the NJCAA District IX title and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament...however, following nationals it was discovered WNCC had used an ineligible player and had to forfeit all 29 wins and its District IX title.

SOPHOMORE (2003-04): Transferred to Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kans....team went 25-9 and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament title game, losing to Coffeyville 65-62... Averaged 20.2 ppg, 9.2 rpg...shot 62.1 percent from the field (266-for-428) and 77.1 percent from the free throw line (145-for-188)...in Jayhawk Conference play averaged 21.2 ppg and 10.3 rpg...had 30 or more points three times, including a career high 32 at Northeastern and again in the Jayhawk ShootOut against Allen County...during one 12-game stretch scored 20 or more points 10 times...made his final 29 free throws of the season, including 17-for-17 against Cowley County in the Region VI quarterfinals...named a second team NJCAA All-American.

SOPHOMORE (2004-05): Missed first two regular-season games in a ruling handed down by the NCAA relating to junior college issues, the initial ruling by the NCAA that he would have to sit out the first three games, but an appeal was granted after he missed the first two contests against Portland State and Montana...first Gonzaga appearance was against Idaho, playing 17 minutes, scoring 4 points and grabbing a pair of rebounds...scored 10 points against then fifth-ranked Illinois at the Wooden Tradition in Indianapolis, Ind., for his first double-digit scoring game...came off the bench to score 18 points on 8-for-9 night from the field in 78-75 win over then third-ranked Oklahoma State at the Touchstone Energy All-College Classic, earning MVP honors of the Bill Russell game of the showcase double-header...that game began a stretch of five straight double-digit scoring games that was followed by 17 at Missouri, 12 at Santa Clara, 14 at Saint Mary's and 17 against Loyola Marymount...had back-to-back 20-plus games with 22 at San Diego and 25 at home against Portland, the latter a career high...recorded first career double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds at Missouri, then had two more with 25/12 against Portland and 19/15 against Santa Clara, the 15 rebounds a career high...finished the regular season with four straight double-digit games...named the WCC Newcomer of the Year and an All-WCC honorable mention pick...scored 24 points in WCC Tournament semifinal against San Diego, one shy of his career high, and grabbed 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double...went 8-for-9 from the field and 7-for-8 from the line...scored 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in title game against Saint Mary's, going 4-for-7 from the field...averaged 16.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg in the two tournament games in earning All-Tournament honors...in two NCAA Tournament games scored 22 points, including 14 in first round against Winthrop, and hauled in 13 rebounds, including 8 against Texas Tech.
