SALEM, Ore. - Gonzaga University's men's and women's cross country teams each finished ninth at the 33rd annual Charles Bowles Invitational Cross Country Meet hosted by Willamette University Saturday at Bush's Pasture Park.

The meet is named after the longtime Willamette University head coach who passed away in 2005.

The Bulldog men scored 294 points in the 20-team event won by the University of Montana with 57 points. The Gonzaga women scored 235 points with the University of Idaho capturing the team crown with 26 points.

Colby Litzenberger and Brett Withers were the top two Bulldog men across the finish line in the 8K men's open race. Litzenberger was 50th in 25:53.05 while Withers finished 82nd in 26:04.30 in the field of 212 runners. Jordan McNamara, running unattached, won the race in 23:42.06.

Molly Funk was the top Bulldog woman across the line in 46th in 18:52.75 over the 5K women's open layout. Laura Volcheff finished 65th in 19:21.55. Marilyn Arsenault, running attached, won the women's event in 17:21.50 as 165 women finished the race.
