Obradovich Sets School Record In 200M

SPOKANE, Wash. - A pair a sprinters stole some of the show from Gonzaga University's distance runners Saturday at the Duane Hartman Invitational at Spokane Falls Community College, including a school record by Clare Obradovich.

Obradovich, a freshman from Tigard, Ore., finished third in the women's 200 meters in 26.45, breaking the school mark of 26.54 set by Amanda Legerski in 1997. That capped a solid day by Obradovich, who finished second in the 400 meters in 59.76.

On the men's side, John Irwin took fifth in the 200 meters in 23.22 and fourth in the 400 in 52.24.

The Bulldogs distance corps also had a strong showing. Molly Funk was third in the women's 5000 meters in 19:00.11, Laura Volcheff was fourth in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase in 12:55.40 and Matt Bejar was third in the men's 5000 meters in 15:50.27.
